A single bus journey using an Oyster card in London, already the world’s most expensive city for public transport, will rise from £1 to £1.20 under new plans proposed by Mayor of London Boris Johnson. A single Tube trip in zone one using an Oyster card will increase 12.5 per cent to £1.80. Overall, Bus fares will jump by 12.7 per cent and Tube fares by 3.9 per cent.

Chris Nicholson, Liberal Democrat Campaigner for Streatham, Brixton and Clapham commented: “Boris has chosen to make those on low incomes pay the price for TfL’s financial mismanagement and his daft vanity projects.” “He has decided to make those using short, single bus trips bear the brunt.”
